Lot's of News since April!  I have been very busy with work and haven't had time to

update this section, Sorry!

May 7th and 8th was the Hobie Classic Contest at Old Man's.  Saturday was the

Men's 36 and up Open Competition as well as the Women's Open. Sunday was the

Men's Under 36 Open and the Menehune boys and girls.  My Brother John Coshland

won the  Men's 36 and Over and Skyler McFerrin won the Women's Contest.  Sunday

I had to leave the beach at noon, so I didn't get to see  the finals.  So you need to go

to the Hobie website to see the results.  I do Know that Blake Michael won the

menehune boy's over 11.  Blake's Dad Denny, said he was stoked!  There was World

Class Surfing both days of the Competition, and it was awesome to watch and capture

with my Camera.  I still haven't been able to go through the 800+ images and sort them

all out.  But please be patient and I will have your pictures on disc ASAP.  The D.L.S.A.

Members who surfed in the Hobie Classic all did really good!  They kind of dominated

the contest as far as what Club the winners belong to.  Congrats to all!

On Saturday May 14th I met Jesse Timm at Pipes in Cardiff.  Jesse brought his new

Board the he shaped himself.  It's Beautiful  And from the way he rode that Morning,

It looks like it works great!  It was an unbelievably nice sunny day and I got some good

pics of Jesse at his home break.  After his session we did a Gatekeeper Racks shoot

for Don Bistline to possibly use in his upcoming ads.  Look for Don at the Santa Cruz

Contest.  He will have a table there and he is one of the sponsers who is supplying

his products as raffle prizes.   I also did a short interview with Jesse for a upcoming

Press Release and Article for the website.  So check back for that soon too.  In the

meantime if you are interested in talking to Jesse about shaping you a board,  write

me and I will give him your contact information.  And obviously, you can ask him

about it when you see him at the beach.

I will be Leaving for Santa Cruz on Friday Morning May 27th for the Coalition Contest.

I'm hoping for the same great weather as last year as well as good waves too.  I'm

looking forward to going up there very much!  So I hope to see you all there.

Check back for updates!

At the Dewey Weber Team Day held at Old Man's, Shea and Corey Weber named John

Coshland Captain of the Dewey Weber Surf Team.  If you know my Brother, then you would

probably agree with me that he is perfect for that position.  There was a lot of really great surfing

going on which included the Team Members as well as Corey and Shea.  I  put some

shots in the Gallery from that day.  One new Team Member is 15 year old Matt Zahuta who lives

in Lompoc.  He developed his Surfing Skills at his local break, Jalama as well as the other

great Central Cal. breaks including The Ranch , Refugio and El Capitan State Beaches

to name a couple.  Matt's Dad, Bob was at team day with Matt.  He is a good surfer too and

he enjoyed catching some So. Cal. Surf at Old Man's. Check out some Pics of Matt on his

new D.W. board in the Gallery.  He is definately another one to watch for the future. And I feel

it's safe to say that with all the really good Surfers of all ages on the Dewey Weber Team,

Shea and Corey must be looking forward to a very strong showing from their Team in the

2005 Contest Season.

Don Bistline, Owner of Gatekeeper Surfboard Locks (See their link on the links page) sent me

the completed ad copy for the ad that is going to be in the next issue of Longboard Magazine.

We did the shoot at San O The last part of February with Corey Weber and his truck with the

Gatekeeper Lock on it  as the subjects.  I had a lot of fun! Corey and his truck were perfect.

Don was there too and with the two of them helping me, we took about 70 images of Corey

using his lock.  Don chose the image he wanted to use, the ad text was added and some final

effects done by the Longboard Magazine Art Dept. After all of that,  this was the finished product:
